In his book, ″Utopia″ Thomas More explains the attitudes of the Utopians toward gold and silver. The writer states that while people certainly idolize elements such as gold and silver, this is not the case with utopians. In this case, the Utopians view these precious metals as mere commodities and place little value on them. This notion goes against the societal norms and values of More's time, where wealth and material possessions were highly prized.
