Molibden is a transition metal found in the periodic group VI of the periodic table. It was discovered by the Swedish chemist Scheele in 1778. Molibden was isolated by the Swedish chemist P. Helm in 1782 by reducing molybdenum (III) oxide (Mo2O3) with carbon. It has an atomic number of 42 and an atomic mass of 95.94. Molibden is a hard metal with a density of 10.2 g/cm3, melting point of 2620°C, and boiling point of 4630°C. It is found in some minerals and can be extracted by certain methods. Molibden reacts with acids.
