Cervical fascia is a fibrous connective tissue that binds together various structures of the body. It consists of two types - superficial fascia, which is subcutaneous and present just below the skin, and deep fascia, which surrounds muscles, blood vessels, and organs of the neck. The superficial cervical fascia covers the platysma muscle and may contain adipose tissue, especially in females. The deep cervical fascia, also known as fascia colli, forms a collar around the neck and lies deep to the platysma muscle in the cervical region between muscles, vessels, and organs. It gives various extensions or laminae around various structures.
