Vitiligo is a chronic skin disease characterized by white patches on the skin. The skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin, which is produced in cells called melanocytes. When melanocytes die or are unable to function, it results in the loss of melanin, causing white spots on the skin and leading to vitiligo skin disease.
